What is the difference between methylcobalamin and cyanocobalamin?
Cyanocobalamin is the inexpensive, synthetic form of B12 that the body first has to convert into its active form. We deliberately use the three bioactive cobalamin forms (methyl-, adenosyl- and hydroxocobalamin) – these can be directly utilized by the body.
Why Quatrefolic® instead of conventional folic acid?
The body must first convert conventional folic acid into its active form (5-MTHF). In many people, this conversion step is limited (genetic MTHFR variant). Quatrefolic® (6S-5-MTHF) is already the bioactive form and can be utilized directly.
For whom is B12 + Folic Acid particularly relevant?
Especially for vegans and vegetarians, as B12 is found almost exclusively in animal products. Supplementary intake may also be beneficial during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in case of gastrointestinal problems, in old age, or with a vegetarian diet. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
How does the tablet taste?
Naturally fruity with cherry – thanks to cherry powder and natural cherry flavoring. Let the tablet slowly dissolve in your mouth or chew thoroughly. Sugar-free and tooth-friendly.
Why 500 µg B12 – isn't that too much?
500 µg corresponds to 20,000% of the NRV. While this sounds like a lot, it is well tolerated: Vitamin B12 is water-soluble, and excess amounts are excreted by the kidneys. The high dosage compensates for the fact that only a fraction of orally ingested B12 is actually absorbed – especially in old age.
Can I take B12 + folic acid permanently?
Yes, the dosage is designed for long-term daily intake. If you are taking other B12 or folate-containing supplements simultaneously, please discuss the total intake with your doctor.
